Ujjayani means vijayani, whose roots are parallel to ujjayani, whereas ujjayani is a sanskrit word which can be interpreted as ut + jayani i.e. victorious with excellence. It is described in the 28th edition of Skanda Purana, according to which Avantikapurthi, the capital of Avanti, which was called Ujjayini, was renamed as Ujjayani if Mahadev had won the victory over the mighty demon chief of Tripura or Tripuri in the deity president of Avantika.
If we try to understand this metaphor, then here the dental story gives more clear instructions that the people of Avanti had named it Ujjayani as a victorious memory over the ruling caste of Tripuri.
There have been 6 names in 6 kalpas, in the first karlap it was called Swarnashranga, in the second Kushsthali, in the third, in Avantika, in the fourth, in the Amravati Panch, it is called as chudamani in the kalpa, its name is Padmavati.
